Couples Therapy
Sustaining a vibrant romantic relationship amidst life’s competing demands can be challenging. This is especially true during periods of significant transition and over the course of time. Our changing needs often pull us in different directions - leading to disconnection, resentment, or conflict. In the face of struggle, some of us pull away from our partners, while others lash out and cast blame. Few of us were given the skills to communicate gently and openly about our deepest desires for our partnership.
In couples therapy, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where you can find each other again. I offer practical skills that help you enhance communication, while using an emotionally-focused approach to deepen trust and rekindle passion. I work with all relationship types including unmarried couples, pre-marital couples, married couples, blended families, open and polyamorous relationships. I especially enjoy supporting partners who are embarking on a new phase of parenthood.
My approach draws on several evidence-based frameworks, including Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, Gottman Method, Internal Family Systems, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also bring my sociological lens and years of researching and teaching courses on marriage and family life.
